c.1895:: Kashmiri Gate, Delhi.

The Kashmiri (Cashmere) Gate in Delhi is the northern gate to the historic Walled City of Delhi or what is now known as Old Delhi, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Kashmiri Gate was one of the original gates of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan's mid-17th century imperial capital Shahjahanabad. The gate was so named because it faced north, towards the road to Kashmir.

This photograph of the Kashmiri Gate taken by Lala Deen Dayal in 1890s, from the Curzon Collection: 'Views of places proposed to be visited by Their Excellencies Lord & Lady Curzon during Autum Tour 1902'.
