Surya Sen was an Indian independence activist who was influential in the Indian independence movement who is noted for leading the Chittagong Armoury Raid. Sen led a group of young revolutionaries on 18 April 1930 to raid the armoury of police and auxiliary forces from the Chittagong armoury. The plan was to seize the armoury and destroy the communication system of the city (including telephone, telegraphs and railways), thereby isolating Chittagong(Now in Bangladesh) from the rest of British India.
In 2012, a Bollywood Director made a film on the life of Surya Sen called 'Chittagong'. Manoj Bajpayee played the role of Surya Sen.
